Search Lewis County Dockets

Start a Lewis County docket search at the court that handled the case, since Superior Court, District Court, and the municipal courts each keep their own records. The clerk's office is where the official file lives. A name search can turn up a case, though an exact case number usually gives the cleanest match. Read the docket's event history as an index, then ask the court for any filed document or certified copy you need. Some records stay restricted, and recent changes may lag behind public results. A quick call to the court remains the final check.

Name-Based Case Searches

Figure out the court level first. In Lewis County, adult felonies, civil matters, dissolutions, probate, and guardianship cases generally begin in Superior Court. Misdemeanors, infractions, small claims, and limited civil cases sit with District Court or a municipal court. Each level has its own tool. Odyssey serves Superior Court. re:SearchWA covers limited-jurisdiction records, and Washington Courts Case Search works as a broad statewide index.

  1. Select the correct court level and Lewis County court.
  2. Choose person-name or business-name mode, since the fields differ.
  3. Enter first and last name in the statewide form; use Last, First Middle in Odyssey Smart Search.
  4. Narrow a common name by case type, filing year, location, or status.
  5. Open the case number and inspect Case Information, Parties, Events, Disposition Events, and Hearings.
  6. Verify a material date or result with the court of record.

Treat the statewide index as a locator only. It warns that identity, completeness, case status, and outcome may be inaccurate, so the official file at the court is what counts.

Lewis County Search Portal Stack

No single portal covers every Lewis County court at the same depth. Odyssey offers anonymous public case information for Superior Court. But its state FAQ is clear. It holds no Courts of Limited Jurisdiction records. For District and municipal dockets, re:SearchWA is the route. Find My Court Date lists upcoming District and municipal settings. The standard state Case Search rounds things out as a broad, once-daily index.

The daily felony and District docket PDFs add date-specific context. Still, they are calendar sheets, not complete event histories.

Case Number Searches

Copy the case number exactly as the court printed it, dashes, digits, and suffixes included. Lewis Superior Court daily dockets show numbers such as 26-1-00403-21. District examples include 6A0212777, and a traffic citation may read 26C11331. These are observed samples, not a universal format rule.

A citation number, cause number, docket number, appellate number, and judgment number can come from different systems. Match the identifier field to the paper in hand. When an old number fails, ask the Lewis County Clerk or District Court for help. Have the court check its own index. Don't guess at changes.

Lewis County Odyssey Smart Search

Odyssey's Smart Search takes a record number or a name typed Last, First Middle Suffix. Advanced controls let you narrow by Lewis County location, search type, case type, case status, file-date range, or judicial officer. Sounds Like and wildcard tools can rescue a tricky spelling. But the state guide warns that both have limits. They should not be combined in some searches.

The official Smart Search screen shows the core search field. It also shows the advanced filter panel.

A common name can return hundreds of hits. Begin with an exact case number, or add Lewis County, a filing range, and case type before widening the query.

Case Search Results Explained

A public Lewis County case result is a structured index, not the file itself. It can show the court, case number, filing date, case type, parties, current status, event history, disposition events, and hearing entries. Odyssey names its chronological event view the Register of Actions. That view comes closest to a traditional docket sheet in public form.

Case numberThe court-assigned identifier used to retrieve the same case again.
File date and typeWhen the matter began and its broad docket category.
PartiesPeople or organizations associated with the public case.
EventsThe dated sequence of filings, settings, orders, and other court activity.
DispositionA recorded outcome for a count, claim, or proceeding, which should be checked against the order.
HearingsPast or upcoming settings, not proof that a claim or charge was established.

The index stops short of every pleading, exhibit, transcript, or signed judgment. When exact wording matters, request the document from the custodian.

Pick the city court named on the citation. Morton matters now go to Napavine Municipal Court under the 2026 agreement, though older files may still sit under an earlier court code.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

Use the statewide search when the venue is uncertain. When you know the court level, a direct Lewis County portal works better. For Superior Court, find the cause number in the state index, then confirm details in Odyssey or with the Lewis County Clerk. For District or municipal court, move from the broad index to re:SearchWA.

The Clerk counter sits on the second floor at 345 W Main, reachable at 360-740-2704. The records line is 360-740-2756. District Court occupies the third floor at the same address and answers 360-740-1203. District record requests can also travel by mail or fax to 360-740-2779. Superior copy requests may go by email to clerkrecords@lewiscountywa.gov, in person, or by mail.

Lewis County Search Failure Checks

An empty result does not mean no Lewis County case exists. Recheck the spelling, the Last/First order, person-versus-business mode, court level, venue, and year range. Confirm every dash and digit in the cause number. A District case will never appear in Odyssey. That portal serves Superior Court only.

The Enterprise Justice transition can also affect recent limited-jurisdiction data. Older paper or microfilm records may need a clerk search. If a portal shows metadata only, send in that court's records form. The Lewis County Clerk asks for one case number per request. The office says to allow two weeks for processing.

Best fallback: Take the exact identifier and source document to the court that filed the case. Court staff can distinguish a missing public result from a wrong venue, old format, or access restriction.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Washington court rules decide what stays private in Lewis County. GR 31, GR 15, and GR 22 govern access together. Under those rules, the Clerk treats adult criminal, civil, dissolution, probate, and guardianship files as open unless a judge has sealed them. Even open cases can have protected filings withheld. Adoption and paternity records are confidential. So are mental-illness files and juvenile-dependency materials. Juvenile offender cases work differently, since they remain open unless sealed. If a docket search returns nothing sealed, that does not mean no case exists. GR 15 covers sealing and redaction. GR 22 shields sensitive family, protection-order, guardianship, and therapeutic records. The Lewis County Clerk or the court of record can explain any authorized inspection or copy process.

Note: Anonymous Odyssey access provides public case information, while filed documents depend on clerk-authorized roles or a copy request.

Lewis County Filing Is Not Search

eFileWA is the electronic filing system for Lewis County Superior Court, and it is not a public docket search. Filers register first, follow the filing order, and pay any filing or e-commerce charges, though the county says the service itself carries no use fee. Bench copies do not run through eFileWA. Those go to Superior Court Administration instead. The system also has limits on what it accepts. New civil protection-order petitions are excluded, while later filings in an existing case are allowed, and ex parte documents can be filed electronically. Keep the two events separate in your mind. A filing that goes through successfully does not create a public search result, because filing and searching are different steps in the court record process.
